The grade 12 student paid his respects to those killed and injured on the weekend.

Many people live here from the base as well, so yeah, everyone's really connected and, uh, everyone really cares for each other in this town, yeah.

Share it, hype it.

And if you're unaware, there was a massive incident that took place in Wainwright in Alberta, Canada.

Absolutely tragic.

I don't there's no other words for it.

We've been following very closely and hearing from different people on the ground in Wainwright, given the fact that we learned late Saturday afternoon a terrible fire had ripped through a part of the training facility at...

CFB Wainwright, and as a result, a number of people were tragically involved.

Four men dead, 19 others clinging to their life, several more injured with severe burns.

Libby Gray, who is a reporter for our CKOM newsroom, in fact, longtime producer of The Evan Bray Show, is on the ground in Wainwright, has been there since yesterday, and is joining us by phone.

Libby, thanks so much for the connection.

What did you determine as soon as you landed yesterday or you arrived in Wainwright?

Hi, Ev.

Yeah, like as soon as I got in, I took a look at the main places.

Okay, let's take a break.

We've got Libby Gray on the ground in Wainwright, Alberta, as we continue to hear about the reaction and the support that that community is getting from across Canada, including from our province here in Saskatchewan.

We'll check in with reporter Libby Gray next on 650-CKOM-980-CJME.

And for those who have never shared that space, what is it like having Wainwright the people and also CFB Wainwright as part of your world?

Y- y- you know, the, the closeness between the community.

So Denwood is the community on the base, um, which has its, its many wonderful people, dependents, and families.

Uh, but actually there are a lot of serving members and retired members in our community, so it, it, it would be almost impossible to differentiate between-

Mm-hmm.

We'll be on that story throughout the day today.

But before we do that, I do want to address what happened in Wainwright on Saturday.

As you know, at this point in time, I'm sure you're up to speed.

Tragic, tragic incident.

A fire.

Ripped through the Canadian Armed Forces Training Centre at Wainwright Saturday afternoon.

Four soldiers lost their lives.

39 more were injured.

I got a text from my cousin who is in Edmonton.

And he said, did you hear what happened in Wainwright? Because I used to live there.

It was my first daytime radio stint in 1990 or before, 1993.

And so he said, you live there.

I'm on my phone going like, what in the hell happened here? And then there's pictures of planes coming in from all over the place.

There was even a Hercules that was assembled in Winnipeg and put in the air like right now.

from Winnipeg to be able to airlift some of the injured folks from Wainwright into Edmonton and into Red Deer, and they went as far away as Calgary for medical assistance.

It was a code orange, meaning all hands on deck, mass casualty event.

This morning, before we jump into the message, can we just take a moment to pray? So last night, there was an incident at Wainwright in Alberta on the, what do they call that? Yeah.

Yeah, CP.

So we just want to pray.

I haven't been online yet this morning, but we just want to pray.

We know families who are affected by this as well.

So can we just agree in prayer with me? So, Father, we just begin to pray for just Wainwright, the people on the base, the people affected by the accident that took place there, Father.

And this isn't good.

And we're not pretending it is.
