Speaking of amateur baseball and minor leagues, local pitcher from Wadena, amateur pitcher for the Bluffton Braves, Jake Dykoff, was signed by the Orioles this beginning of the season, spent some time in the Rookie Complex League, moved up to low A, moved up to high A, and check this out.

September 9th, September, let's see, the 8th, was assigned to the Norfolk Tides.

That's AAA.

He's now pitching in AAA ball in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

Let's go to seven-year-old Mary calling in from Wadena, Minnesota.

Mary in Minnesota, how are you this evening? I am good.

I'm happy to hear that.

It really depends where you hunt.

So there are some zones like 51 where you're drawing, you know, every two or three years, but some of the high demand zones like 45, that's kind of the brainer to Wadena country up to little falls.

You're looking at probably a five or six year wait, just because there's a tremendous number of people that apply there and it's close to the city.

So, you know, lots of people have recreation land up in that country.

23-year-old Carla Beth Anderson called her mother on the night of Friday, November 13th, 1987 to tell her some very exciting news.

She had just been named Employee of the Month at her job at the local Hardee's Fast Food restaurant in Wadena, Minnesota.

Carla Beth was bursting with excitement and her mother, Roberta Wells, was beaming with pride at her daughter's achievement.

Both she and Carla's father, Vern, knew the honor meant a lot to their daughter.

Carla lived in the Greenwood Apartments, a complex which specifically housed the mentally disabled and the elderly.

It was a place where Carla felt safe and her parents felt comfortable leaving her on her own.

The town of Wadena itself was considered to be an extremely safe place to live back in 1987.

In fact, in 2021, Wadena is described by the people who live there as still close-knit, friendly and very safe.

But our tracking mechanisms weren't quite ready yet until probably 2018 or '19.

Yeah.

But yeah, definitely the first sensor we launched was, uh, June 17, 2010 up near Wadena, Minnesota.

Oh, that's- That's so cool.

just kind of hit it off with them guys and really just created a really good relationship and they kind of really shoved me down just that that want to know more they want to learn they want to be better um all the time so i am very blessed that i met them as early on because i give it to them you know on why my mentality is the way it is now and, um, and all that.

So did four years paid on call in Wadena, Minnesota.

Um, currently still a volunteer in Osakis.

Um, I've been down here for just over five years.

Do they have any hail or anything like that? Otter Tail County, yeah.

From DL through Wadena, those areas got hit pretty hard with some good-sized hail.

A lot of it was – it'll be interesting to see.

A lot of it was in open country, so I'm sure a lot of agriculture took a hit in Otter Tail with hail.

Hopefully nothing too, too bad, but there were some pretty good reports of – of quarter-size hail coming in out of Otter Tail.

In fact, some rainfall totals pretty impressive to our east.

Wadena picked up 2.09.

Otter Tail picked up about three-quarters of an inch.
