Wade Houston

So everyone knows the CAA-Knicks stuff, but this predates that, that West is one of his first entry points into the world of sports.

is an assistant coach at Louisville named Wade Houston, who realizes there's a lot of athletic talent in Camden, recruits in Camden, gets told, hey, if you want to learn more about the kids, you got to go check out this kid in the shoe store who knows all the, they don't use the word intel back then, but right, but all the intel, goes in, says, I'm looking for William Wesley.

William Wesley hears his full name being used, hides in the back, because thinks he's in trouble.

When he finds out that a college assistant coach comes out, they hit it off.

Milt Wagner, Billy Thompson, other Camden players in the corner of Louisville, Wade Houston is Alan Houston's father, right? And so when Alan becomes sort of a nephew of Wes, and Alan then signs with the Knicks in the 2000s, and Alan Houston's very close to Dolan, and that's sort of Wes's entry point into Knicksphere, Dolan Worlds, which, again, if we're talking about how he got here, like, it starts there.

And then the third is sort of the question of what does Wes actually do with the Knicks? And sort of seeing...

Because it's interesting, I talked to another agent who said, you know, I actually talk to Wes less now than I did before, which makes sense.

So the biggest one is the Knicks.

It's good for the Knicks, right? That Alan Houston's father, Wade Houston, is sort of the origin here, coincidentally, to World Wide West's...

I don't know, to his...

Okay, so when you write this story, I had like 15 million things that I took out that I didn't put in, right? So there's this whole other bucket where Wes gets in with Jimmy Johnson and the Miami football team through their recruiting of Camden athletes, which I just left out because I couldn't dive into the football stuff.

But we're talking about basketball.

Alan Houston's father, Wade Houston, is a assistant coach at Louisville.

Happens to come in to recruit.

Starts realizing, is ahead of the curve, realizing that there's some East Coast kids who are worth recruiting.
