VTEC

The engine I'm nominating, just because it arrived at a time when, you know, four cylinder engines were usually rough, slow, uh, coarse, just lowest common denominator, meat and two veg motors for the masses.

And then Honda came along with that VTEC engine.

I first tried one in a CR-X in 1988, I think.

Um, but, and, but the p- the point is the VTEC technology.

The Honda City had a 1.3 petrol and a 1.5 petrol.

That 1.5 petrol, this was pre-VTEC, but that engine, it revved so sweetly.

It made so much of power.

The City itself was a lightweight car.

But yeah, B20 in there, dude.

Throw the VTEC head on it.

Rip your kids to school.

Yeah, you can get, like, B-16s and B-18s, you know, or something with, like, a VTEC head and whatever.

You know, but then I got to change the computer to run it, and I got to change the wiring harness, and it's like...

What do I really want out of this car? Because I kind of just want something that looks cool and is a little fun to drive.

It's the variable valve timing.

Same as VTEC, except for 20 valves only have it on the intake cam.

But VTEC has it.

I'm just still an underwiser.

Basically, it opens the valves.

Bigger display plus wireless.

Same engine, because why? It's a tried and tested 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine.

121 PS, 145 Nm of torque, paired with a very simple CVT.

No-brainer, no headache.

The VTEC hits like hard or something.

Isn't that it? I don't know.

But what a cool little thing.

So this one's got some more oomph to it cruising down the road.

And if I remember right, someone correct me in the comment below, but I think they got rid of VTEC in this engine.

So that's no longer an option, but it still has got some cool sounds it makes, and I like this engine a lot.

It's proven to be really reliable for people

So different numbers being claimed with different countries that this motor is going out to.

So this one comes down to, like, sound and feel.

So, like, kinda with the definition of purest form, you can also h- um, add like an emotional definition with like, you know, depending on what you're riding, a single cylinder, V twin, parallel twin, triple, inline four, V4 with VTEC.

You know, two stroke, air cooled, no cooled, uh, intake noises.
