It has been a year now since biologists with the tribes began releasing fish in the waterways up north.

Interlochen Public Radio's climate solutions reporter Vivian La brings us an update now, starting at the edge of the Boardman Ottaway River.

I think this is one of the denser tanks anyway, as far as, other than this one.

Small fish about the length of a finger wriggle in a net as biologist Shawn Lesk moves them into a bucket to weigh them.

He watches as staff wade out into the Boardman Ottaway to gently tip out their buckets of grayling, sending them along downstream with a little hope.

Staff say these fish are the river's responsibility now.
