I do not know at which point the word purist became a slur.

But to me, it's the same thing as when Vitalik called us maximalists in the first place.

It's the shitcoiners.

It's always the shitcoiners and the shitcoin apologists that are trying to label us as this or that when all we are really are Bitcoiners, true Bitcoiners who want Bitcoin to be money.

And so, yeah, there's positive externalities from having an L1 that is more scalable.

But I think the Yeah, the gist of that, and it's something I was also told a bit by Vitalik in a famous tweet, I think in February, just saying, if you're a scaling solution for Ethereum, it's probably not worth it because Ethereum is just going to scale.

And so I think as a roll-up, you should differentiate from VL1 and This is what we see.

We see the roles that are successful.

I got my first Bitcoin transaction in 2012.

And I started going to Bitcoin conferences to try to understand it as a journalist and interviewing people like Vitalik and others who were just early on trying to navigate this whole space.

And also because, as I mentioned earlier, one of the first sort of movements I started to become a part of was to end the Fed movement during Ron Paul's second presidency and questioning the Federal Reserve and then questioning not just the Federal Reserve itself, like, hey, we need to pass a bill and audit it, but then also understanding like, well, if the Federal Reserve is the system, is the problem, if the dollar's the problem, then how do we use something alternative? And of course, back then, pre-Bitcoin and pre-crypto, and even today, there was a lot of people really hyped on silver and gold.

And so I knew people who were like, okay, we need to get as many businesses to accept silver coins or silver dollars.

But if prices stay flat, it confirms real buyer demand simply was not there.

Next, Vitalik Buterin pitched a roadmap to dramatically lower the cost of quantum-safe privacy on Ethereum.

Today, quantum-grade cryptography is too expensive for regular on-chain use.

Making it cheap is like putting a deadbolt on every door without raising rent.

The single best proof that a digital community can inhabit physical space and produce real work.

Intellectual legitimacy that money cannot buy and, notably, a far more communitarian, less proprietary vision than most of his co-travelers.

And as much as that's, you know, bad from a traditional kind of DVI perspective, it's, it's, it's what you need a lot of the time for actually bringing corporations and then kind of business that has legal liability with it on chain.

Um, you know, I don't know, maybe that's against Vitalik's kind of L2 rollup, but maybe it's in a little bit of a different sense where he probably wouldn't consider a bunch of these kinds of corporate additions as rollups proper.

And that was exactly why in BCH, the whole philosophy and the philosophy since the beginning of Bitcoin was, let's just keep the fees low because you can't afford to be giving marginal room to your competitors.
