Virgil Goode

I had a literal call to my home from John McGuire, our fifth district congressman.

You know, I've made no secret of it, uh, because it's been frustrating to me, and I, I wish it were different, that every single congressman going back to Virgil Goode in the early 2000s to, um, the previous congressman, uh, Bob Goode, appeared monthly on this program.

That would be Riggleman, Perriello, Robert Hurt, uh, Dem-- Uh, let's see.

Maybe that covers all of them.

... plus eight district.

Uh, Virgil Goode, remember him?

Yes.

Democrat.

You know, in 08, when we pulled off that surprise, we were still 30 points behind in August.

And no Democrat had come within 20 points in that race against Virgil Goode, who was a six-term incumbent on the Appropriations Committee.

He and his family were an institution in Southside, Virginia.

And everything really broke our way.
