Ville Koivunen

There was some footage that I saw come out.

I think Anthony sent it over to me, Anthony Jardine, of Chris Letang really being beaten the heck out of Ville Koivunen with a huge hit in front of the net during a skating drill.

And it was like one of those things that reminded you of footage of old black rhinos who are past their prime and are kind of goring and and ramming some of the younger, more virile up-and-comers.

And I just thought, is that typical for a guy like Chris Letang to pull something like that in training camp? Potentially, look, Ville is a tough guy, I'm sure, but potentially cause an injury, potentially kind of raise the temperature.

Maybe you could make an argument now, all right, well, if not for Geno, they could have Ville Koivunen on that line.

But does that mean that Koivunen would have earned it? No.

No, getting paid doesn't mean you earned it.

Right now, it's, I guess, this is really interesting.

I mean, it's Raquel, Crosby, Robertson, Chinnikov, Novak, Malkin, which we thought, then Kuzmenko, Kendall, Koivunen.

Koivunen is going to be important this year, and then Lazat, Dewar, and Brian Russ on the fourth line, I think.

that will change but let's talk about this old versus young storyline that i really wanted to get into as we're you know seven minutes into the video here we're trying to rush through here at times last season the penguins showcased the power play of crosby malkin carlson russ and raquel was effective however the youngest player of that group is raquel at 33 kindle and chinacal have shown some serious power play acumen kuzmenko is something of a power play specialist crosby and carlson the only locks on the top unit to start and ben kindle obviously had a pretty decent rookie season last year i think he was kind of up and down but all in all i think a good season 35 points as an 18 year old not bad at all you know 18 assists 17 goals surprisingly um you know surprisingly made the team last year out of camp you do want his face off percentage to go up as a center i mean that rookies usually aren't that great at face offs that's just kind of how it goes but i think kindle is in for a great sophomore season and i think he has some better uh you know supporting winners whether it's going to be coven and robertson it seems like uh they want kuzmenko and kindle to work so that seems like that would be the move there and then Igor Chinnikov came to the Penguins and was absolutely electric.
