Vihiga County

Ferdinand works with farmers on food forests, soil restoration, locally produced bio-inputs, and farmer-led research.

It has hugely contributed to agroecology policy efforts in Vihiga County.

You know, Kenya is divided in 47 counties, and a number of counties are developing their agroecology policy and Ferdinand has contributed tremendously for the policy process of Wehiga County.

So Ferdinand and me will explore what farmers are learning and what their experience means for the future of African agriculture.

And so that is the kind of research, that's the kind of information, that is the knowledge co-creation that we are gathering with farmers on research.

That's excellent.

I think the one thing that you've excellently done, of course, with a number of farmers and other actors, is to convince the Vihiga County to have an agroecology policy.

Is it produced already? Is it over? Or is it in the process? And what was the process in short? Yeah.

We are now in Nairobi, Mombasa.

We even have more use with Vihiga, with Kakamega, Lake Region.

So we've moved quite a lot and we're anchoring our own cities.

So we said we're in Narare.

And then, you know, the guys were interested.

Vehicles were like, hey, can we get into a conversation? Luckily, we had a partner who even was interested in, you know, the state of waste, the state of actors.

And our scaling, especially if you look at Kisumu, the lake region, you know, Vihiga.

And I think even into Mombasa, there was a bit of, can we work with the government to help you better appreciate what data means for you, how that can help you into decision making, how that can help you allocate more financing.
