Today, we dig into the longbowmen at Agincourt and the myth of their V-sign salute.

What does evidence say, and how did the story survive? We're going to look at one of Britain's most celebrated myths that pops up on a tourist brochure next to the Battle of Agincourt, that the English archers there raised two fingers and shouted, "Victory." In fact, no contemporary chronicler says anything about a hand signal at all.

That whole story sits neatly beside the popular image of longbowmen with their heads shaved in wartime superstition.

Historian Peter Wilson's work on the battlefield record of Agincourt makes it clear that the day was a flurry of arrow volleys and cannonade from artillery.

And it's, it's just a beautiful thing that a week one is here, man.
