But I'm afraid that in the great story, because she pictured something that the men who were running the official art world deemed maybe not a serious subject matter, she just didn't make it into the pantheon.

Well, you know, when I was taking art history in college, my professor brought up Bernard Berenson.

And he wasn't too kind about Bernard Berenson because it seemed that he was such an authority in people's minds that nobody dared say anything that he hadn't said.

And so I think sometimes, I think of Mary Cassatt as being kind of trapped by that, by previous writers.

And then some people are too lazy to do research.

But I envy you because you're able to see and have seen an amazing number of Cassatt artworks.

I'm attracted to her because of her compositional organization.

This is, you know, it's absolutely the people's museum.

larger towns around.

But between the Rio Grande River and, let's say, Tucson, Arizona, it's like 274 miles of nothing.

I shouldn't say nothing because it's wonderful looking and there are wonderful people there.

But they don't have an opportunity.

They're hard workers.

Most of us that live in the Southwest have jobs.

Some of us are farmers.

That's where I'm going.

He lived a pretty long

life.

He just died, you know, in 2010.

So he's He lasted a long time, and he painted a long time.

So his career, I mean, he did so much, so many drawings, so many prints, so many paintings.

They're probably mostly on the East Coast because he was a New Yorker.

But his work was enormous that he did.

It had to change shape here and there, but I think it turned into something, you know, way bigger than it started on and

Like these are all the stages of, you know, going down.

Quite possible.

But he, you know, he was a fabulous figure man.

I mean, he knew the body.

He was so, such a talent.

And, you know, he didn't have, he never had any education from an art standpoint.

He never went to school.
