Just the usual, you know, bass breaks one-on-one.

First person I ever saw really do sort of a contrapuntal thing like that was Victor Bailey.

Who was when I moved, went to Brooklyn College of Music in 78.

And I'm going to play you three tracks from an album each time I'm doing one of these shows.

And this time we're going to 1984 and Domino Theory from Weather Report, which featured Zawinul Shorter, Victor Bailey on bass and Omar Hakeem on the drums.

Good old Omar.

Three tracks then, obviously, starting with The Peasant.

Bass player on almost all my records was Victor Bailey.

He was a member of Weather Report.

I think it was an original song that one of the guys wrote.

And he was just telling me what the beat patterns were.

And I'm just sitting there playing, and they were looking back at me.
