Vic Braden

It's great to hear you talk about Vic Braden and how he's, you know, was so scientific.

A lot of people certainly don't remember some of the tennis teachers from the past.

What about in San Diego? Is there a Is there a museum? I know that at one time there was Bobby Riggs and Lorne Kuhn, the Bobby Riggs Museum.

I don't know if there's a public one.

I know the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club has a lot of old trophies and awards from players of past years.

but you know, yeah, I mean, imagine, imagine how successful Vic Braden would have been in today's social media era.

It would have been, it would have been number one because he would, he could entertain and educate at the same time.

You know, when you're training and you're good players or working with good players, is you take the serve and you just hit it to the body.

But when you serve from the service line, there was a funny tape with Vic Braden when a guy's footfalling.

He says, somebody's footfalling.

You remember that tape, Dave? He said, just walk up, just walk up and say, you take one foot, that's against the rules.

I go, "Hey, hey, did you hear that? Did you hear that?" Because he, he could just stay in close and I was reprimanded.

Vic de- Vic Braden doesn't reprimand too many people too many times but he, uh, we were doing a clinic in Aspen, Colorado and I said, "Well just turn and have a blocking action." And Vic says, "Steve, Steve, Steve don't ever say that." You know he us- he was just so authentic and he's, and it's so true is that you wanna counter speed with speed.

You know sometimes it's just desperation all you can do is get your racket on the ball but you know like a volley with an add of f- add of follow through.

You know you gotta attack the return of serve.
