Can be a little treacherous at times, but, but was exhilarating.
Mark NehrkornGUEST
44:50
But then, uh, we spent some time, you know, in the Alps doing a little bit of Via Ferrata with the same people.
Erik ReynoldsHOST

Oh, wow.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
KateHOST
25:43
And with things like the Via Ferrata aspects, I mean, they're just open all the time, aren't they? So there wasn't a, it's not an issue there, is there?
Jake CatterallGUEST
25:52
Yeah, well, there is there is no issue about going to it.
Jake CatterallGUEST
25:56
The issue only lies about how you get there and how many kilometers you've got to do.
Jake CatterallGUEST
26:00
You know, some of my funny moments were that some of these via ferratas were at the base of the Alpine.
Jake CatterallGUEST
26:10
start trails right or the start rock climbs that take you up onto the glaciers and stuff and everyone who kind of gets to those parts they're all fully geared up right they've got their alpine boots harnesses helmets like protective gloves everything and a lot of the time I was traveling very light so I would just be in my trail outfit and my running vest and we would we would often meet like on these sort of start finish points and they would be looking at me like Are you lost? Like, what are you doing?
KateHOST
26:43
Did you not have a harness?
KateHOST
28:36
Well, I mean, yeah.
Scott JonesHOST
18:10
And I was just having this conversation with my sister earlier talking about my brother-in-law is like definitely afraid of heights.
Scott JonesHOST
18:15
And I was like, oh, we should take the kids to the Via Ferrata down in Urey because it's really cool down there.
Scott JonesHOST
18:20
She's like, yeah, he's going to not enjoy that.
Scott JonesHOST
18:22
But we know, everybody knows somebody who's scared of heights.
Neal PallesGUEST
20:31
You know, if you could just imagine it and get more comfortable imagining it.
Neal PallesGUEST
20:35
And, you know, again, using a lot of different tools and tactics to go through that exposure.
Neal PallesGUEST
20:41
as you're progressively moving through that, those challenges to get off the ground on that via Ferrata, which sounds like a lot of fun.
Neal PallesGUEST
20:50
Yeah, I think so too.
Tony BenjaminHOST
87:31
So when Brit is up here on Thursday, Steve's going to come up.
Tony BenjaminHOST
87:35
And as we're getting ready to go on the Via Ferrata, Steve's going to come up and we're going to go to Phenomicon.
Tony BenjaminHOST
87:40
And we're going to interview some people there, including Brit.
Tony BenjaminHOST
87:44
Brit, be prepared with your favorite abduction story or alien story.
Kimberly KephartGUEST
6:00
You get a little bit of that hard hitting ascent, but nothing too bad.
Kimberly KephartGUEST
6:04
So for anybody that's ever afraid to do like Via Ferrata, you don't have to worry about that with this one.
Kimberly KephartGUEST
6:10
Yeah.
Sierd van der BijHOST
6:12
Yeah, and that is also why the colleagues suggested to do the short Alta Fiat 2.
Aaron RandHOST

That was scheduled for today.

Yeah, exactly.
TylaHOST

The highest peak here is called Bobovtov Kok and sits at just over 2,500 meters, while the whole mountain range is a crisscross of trails ranging from gentle lakeside strolls to serious all-day endurance tests, scrambling over rocks and climbing up steep ravines.
TylaHOST
34:10
There are even a couple of Via Ferrata routes here, where you can connect into the fixed cables and scale some very sketchy cliff edges.
TylaHOST
34:19
Now how hard you push today is entirely up to you, so take into account your level of fitness and the weather, because these are proper mountains.
TylaHOST
34:27
The dangers are real and it can all change very quickly.

Uh, we did it last year, um, and it was a fantastic adventure, but the weather was really bad, especially from the third day.
Antonio CodinaGUEST
17:11
And, um, I don't know if we haven't told this, but you do have to carry a Via Ferrata equipment, so harness and Via Ferrata lanyards, helmet, and, uh, microspikes, 'cause you do go really high up and really steep.
Antonio CodinaGUEST
17:27
And, uh, when the weather is really bad, like we had last year, we did miss quite a few of the really technical sections-

P- PTL?
Antonio CodinaGUEST
29:55
Yes, but if you think of the pace, and, and I mean, you, when you get to, to compare races, now you're gonna have to compare, um, you know, what kind of runner you are, okay? So I'm not a good runner, I'm more a- I came here from a mountaineering background, so if you put me in a race where I have to climb up and down mountains or do something like Via Ferratas, that's my thing and I'm gonna be very confident on that.
Antonio CodinaGUEST

If you give me the Spine Race where it's much more flat and you can run a bit faster, um, um, that's not my strength, so I find that harder.
