via Dolorosa

It seems like when we do communion, we think about the cross.

We think about the Via Dolorosa.

We think about the whipping post.

We think about the trip up that hill to Golgotha.

And then they started up the Via Dolorosa.

All of a sudden, they need to turn back.

And also the Christian quarter.

What does that mean? Okay, if you want to go visit the Holy Sepulchre Church Christians on your tour, if you want to visit the Via Dolorosa or any of that St.

Anne's Church, the Garden of Gethsemane, guess what? You'd be having to go to Palestine and maybe they wouldn't let you in because when Jordan was in charge of that land, you weren't allowed to do that.

Or more likely, they would have just destroyed all of these ancient places.

I end the show the same way every time, all right? So you've walked this path of faith, and there's been times when you doubted, and there's been things, obstacles put in your way, and there's been things that have been a little rough in trying to keep on that straight path.

And in that, just like the Via Dolorosa, the path of suffering, there has been suffering involved in this stuff.

And I always say that suffering is the best teacher on the planet.

Mm-hmm.

What else, regarding the crucifixion, Dinesh, do people get right? Or I should say, does the Bible get right? What can we verify archaeologically, either in people or details?

There is a debate about the Via Dolorosa.

Does it go over here? Does it go over there? That's a legitimate dispute.

I think what is quite clear is that, and by the way, I'll make a broader point here.

They could not even sleep because their beloved master, whom they had spent quality time with, had died, and he was in the tomb.

We can catch a glimpse of their bitterness and their sadness by the way in which the women cried as Jesus was on the Via Dolorosa to the place of his crucifixion.

They were crying.

We can catch how they felt by the reaction of Mary when she met him on resurrection morning, didn't recognize him.
