And I think Moyo's work really draws a distinction between something like, um, more liberal peasant movements.

So now I wouldn't say Via Campesina is this, 'cause Via Campesina also has a very radical edge, and eventually Via Campesina's secretary general is a Zimbabwean woman who benefits from land reform, right? Elizabeth Mpofu, I think some years back, was the, was the secretary general.

it feels to me like so we always design transition as a as a tool for the global north because we're the ones creating the problem right yeah so actually uh you know we wanted to design transition as a detox for the global north away from its high levels of energy use and consumption down to where we use much less energy and resources but are living a better life and in doing so we kind of take our boot off the neck of the global south to be able to flourish in the ways that it actually wants to So you see in the Global South movements like Buen Vivir and Via Campesina and kind of indigenous led movements that are about alternatives to development in those places.

And so I'm kind of it's amazing to me that transition is a tool that is considered useful in the Global South, wherever that is.

But also there are many, many other movements there that are reimagining what progress means, what development means.

Critics argued the corporate donation undermined local food sovereignty and threatened native creole seeds and created long-term dependency on commercial seed.
