Everything seemed to be going well until last Saturday, really.
Mark BroadhurstHOST
8:48
But obviously three defeats in the space of seven days, including a meek defeat in the Pokal against Bochum as well, did not go down well.
Mark BroadhurstHOST
8:57
And actually you saw quite a few of the Mainz ultras at the end of this game were expressing their discontent to what it was Fischer's side have done over the last week.
Mark BroadhurstHOST
9:06
Obviously, Rory,
JonHOST
36:36
We had three... lower league teams beating bundesliga sides yeah we had keel getting a better of hoffenheim on penalties after a 1-1 draw we had dresden beating schalke 2-0 and we also had darmstadt winning away at elversburg
RichardHOST
36:58
Well, and we also had Bochum beating Mainz.
JonHOST
37:00
Oh, the fourth one, sorry, yes.
JonHOST
37:02
Bochum beating Mainz as well.
JonHOST
37:04
So that's a good return for Bundesliga 2 clubs, let's say.
RichardHOST
37:10
Especially in the second round as well.
JonHOST
39:12
Leverkusen, Leipzig.
JonHOST
39:14
So if any look, Leipzig will be getting knocked out in the next round.

We have had in the past... rounds where it feels like no real upset has happened and they've been hard to discuss in this round we were teased with many potential other upsets obviously I mentioned say Essen going 1-0 up against eventually 10-man Leipzig, Grosser-Spach fighting back against Augsburg Magdeburg equalising against Bayern Munich and Nürnberg taking that impressive two-goal lead away at Bayer Leverkusen.
Alex WoodwardHOST
19:51
But we still had some upsets and I think we should probably start off with the first of those upsets that I mentioned from the early window on Tuesday, Bochum 2, Mainz 0.
Alex WoodwardHOST
20:07
And this was a shock in two ways.
Alex WoodwardHOST
20:11
First of all, obviously, it was a Bundesliga side losing to a Schweitzer Bundesliga side but more than that it was a Schweitzer Bundesliga side who are very bad at home beating a Bundesliga side who are very good away from home.
Alex WoodwardHOST
20:27
Bochum have not won a game at home since April.
Alex WoodwardHOST
20:31
when they beat Greuther Firth 2-1 so of course all of this season they have not won at the Verstadion meanwhile Mainz entered this game with the best away record in the entire Bundesliga so even if it wasn't for the fact that this was a let's face it not particularly good side to Bundesliga side who'll be worrying more about relegation than dreaming of promotion taking on an established Bundesliga side who we don't expect to be struggling against relegation come the end of the season that would be bad enough for Bochum's chances of winning this game it's compounded by the fact that they're really bad at home and their opponents are really good away from home.
Alex WoodwardHOST
21:14
And yet, we didn't see that in this game.
Alex WoodwardHOST
21:17
I mean, there were a few, I guess, important players missing for Mainz or, you know, not starting as Fischer did do some rotation, obviously.
Chuck SmithHOST
29:37
You've got Augsburg winning 3-0 over Sonnenhof-Großbach.
Chuck SmithHOST
29:42
You've got Mainz winning 2-1 over Bochum.
Chuck SmithHOST
29:46
Borussia Dortmund taking down Werder Bremen in 2-1, but that one is a game to watch.
Chuck SmithHOST
29:50
I mean, the full Krug magic is real.
Manuel VethHOST
11:44
The results recently pretty good.
Manuel VethHOST
11:45
Win against Braunschweig, draw against Heidenheim, win at home again against Bochum.
Manuel VethHOST
11:50
Uh, The only blemish is recent weeks that away defeat to Magdeburg.
Manuel VethHOST
11:56
So yeah, tune in, 8.30, kick off at the Max Moorlach Stadion.
Alex WoodwardHOST
50:51
kaiser sloughton 2 bocum nil some not oscar worthy acting from alvedi uh yan yan alvedi yan or nico which one plays for kaiser sloughton yan or nico i think it's yan alvedi who plays for kaiser sloughton if i'm fairly confident it is But anyway, Jan Albeide with not the best acting to get Kaiserslautern a penalty late on in this match, though the home side would have won this game regardless.
Alex WoodwardHOST
51:21
Milos Lukovic with the first goal and Sami Sahin scoring from the spot to give all three points to the Red Devils against the Bochum side who are now in the relegation places.
Alex WoodwardHOST
51:34
Wolfsburg 3, Heidenheim 1.
Alex WoodwardHOST
51:36
Who cares? Heidenheim were unlucky to not pick up a point in this game.

Alex WoodwardHOST

Heidenheim fifth on 14 points.
Alex WoodwardHOST
70:15
At the wrong end of the table, Holstein Kiel.
Alex WoodwardHOST
70:17
Bottom of the league on 5 points, Darmstadt and Bochum in the relegation places on 7 points each.
Alex WoodwardHOST
70:24
Eintracht Braunschweig in 15th have the same number of points.
Paul NealonHOST
9:13
Yeah, Germany then in the Bundesliga 2.
Paul NealonHOST
9:16
Alex Murphy played 90 minutes in Kaiserslautern's 2-0 win over VfL Bochum in Bundesliga 2 and that was a 1-0 win.
Paul NealonHOST
9:25
And then Anselmo Garcia-McNulty played 90 minutes for Magdeburg in a 2-0 loss to Dresden as well.
Paul NealonHOST
9:32
So two players there, two youngsters are playing in Bundesliga 2.
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
56:43
Yeah, people have, um, people have been having a little bit of a chuckle about that.
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
56:47
And just to finish, have you heard about what's happening at Bochum Stadium with the jumping ban?
James RichardsonHOST
56:52
Bochum?
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
56:52
Yeah.
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
56:53
Okay, so there was, Bochum are in the process of renovating their stadium.
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
56:58
There's a, a project which is gonna be completed around 2028, 2029.
Seb Stafford-BloorPANELIST
57:02
Anyway, one of the problems they've discovered in the east stand is that rhythmic jumping, as it's des- being described, causes a trampoline effect within the sta- with- within that particular stand, the east stand where all the ultras are.
James HorncastlePANELIST
57:17
So when people jump on one side, people on the other are getting bounced up and down.
Alex WoodwardHOST
39:07
A good win for Armenia Bielefeld.
Alex WoodwardHOST
39:13
Uwe Rosler has been in charge now at Bochum for one year and they do look a lot better than they did under Dieter Hecking granted they couldn't look much worse but still this is definitely not a side who at the moment feel like they're going to be anywhere close to the promotion race of course the same cannot be said for Hertha Berlin who beat Reuter Firth 2-1 to keep their 100% record they are now four points clear at the top of the league 7 points clear of 3rd place Heidenheim and 8 points clear of 4th place Magdeburg.
Alex WoodwardHOST
39:46
A bit lucky in this game but to be honest I think even if you did take away all the luck they've had this season they would still be top.
Alex WoodwardHOST
39:56
Mads Pedersen and Paul Seguin with the goals.

Alex WoodwardHOST

Not the only bad news coming out of the Verstadion for VFL fans.
Alex WoodwardHOST
60:35
They have been banned from jumping up and down in unison, which of course is a fairly common feature.
Alex WoodwardHOST
60:41
in German football among fan bases and it's always really fun to look at but Bochum will not be able to take part in that anymore because apparently it makes some of their spectators feel unwell not because they like just hate watching people jumping in unison but apparently engineers have been looking at the structure of the the stadion as part of a stadium upgrade and their report highlighted the fact that synchronized jumping during matches created what has been quoted as a trampoline effect in the stand that could trigger discomfort for some fans that report coming courtesy of Reuters so the club have announced that they are banning synchronized movement in the standing areas of the earth stand and that is obviously a real shame because it does look nice and I bet it's really fun to participate in nice is the wrong word it's very visually catching when you see it on the tv right and i bet it is fun to participate in so yeah a bit of a shame for them not the only fans who are having to give up something within the stadium because there was an article on sports show saying that there will be a cannabis ban at darmstadt quote the city of darmstadt has recognized why the lilies simply can't seem to get going and is tackling the problem at its grassroots not my words the words of sports show smoking marijuana will be banned in the stadium this time for good i genuinely thought this was a postillion article when i first saw it because it just not only because of the you know cheap play on words with grassroots But just the content made me think, well, this is clearly satire, right? It has to be satire.
Alex WoodwardHOST
62:47
It is not satire.
Greville WatermanGUEST
19:57
I think-
Tim SearlsHOST

A Bochum reserve player and now he's playing for his national team
Greville WatermanGUEST

I'm not angry.
Greville WatermanGUEST
