We typically hear about eggplant crops coming down with Verticillium wilt this time of year, and it sounds like many growers are seeing this now.

Classic symptoms for this disease is wilt and yellowing occurring on one side of leaves.

This is reflecting this weird phenomena that the fungus will clog up vascular tissue, providing this one side of the leaf symptoms.

It sounds like there are some big differences between the types of eggplants in terms of susceptibility to Verticillium wilt, so there's certainly some potential for resistant variety selection.

But in talking to most people, it sounds like eggplant is kind of a minor crop for most of our growers, so they kind of pay no mind to Verticillium [chuckles] once it, once it shows up.

But I am curious if you agree.
