Caden Ellis, though, has been injured after playing every single game for three seasons over with the Atlanta Falcons, has now missed the last two games here in New Orleans.

There's a illness that's running through the defensive tackles, and so guys like Nathan Shepherd as well as Vernon Broughton were not able or available to play in this matchup.

The Saints defense, though, didn't struggle because they were missing pieces.

It struggled in the same way that it's continued to struggle over the course of the season.

We bought low, and he's really paid off as that edge rusher on the line.

We just need some more depth, maybe the younger guys to pop off, Vernon Broughton.

We, uh, we drafted a guy.

Who did we draft like second or third round? Broughton missed most of last year, so this is kind of his rookie year.

I was impressed by him.

But the rest of their defensive front, whether it was the interior guys like, I mean, Nathan Shepard, Devon Godshaw, Colby Wooden, Vernon Broughton, just, you know, John Ridgway.

They were rotating a lot of guys in the interior that feel like, um, movable players and then the edge on the other side.

And yes, Cam Jordan's still there.

Saints defense could have used a lot of help here in this game up against the Atlanta Falcons.

Devon Godshaw, Vernon Broughton, as well as Christian Boyd, didn't have successful games up against Atlanta.

Christian Boyd, as well as as well as Vernon Broughton, had a four and a half as well as five yard average when it came to depth of tackle, meaning how far downfield a running back got before they were making stops in the run game.

Remember, these are guys that line up on the line of scrimmage.

And so ideally, you'd like them to be making stops within two yards or so.

Meanwhile, Devon Godshaw, who played 21 snaps in the game, 14 on the rushing side, didn't log a single lined stat in this game.

The New Orleans Saints interior, their defensive line was a big concern coming into this matchup.

They put a lot of faith in Vernon Broughton coming back.

They didn't like Riley, Christian Boyd.

Vernon Broughton has had consistently rough games.

Uh, did a decent job rush- rushing the passer week one.
