So for people who missed it, Vern Cotter turned up and did some media on his, I don't know if it was his first day, but his first media conference anyway and um spoke about like the the part that i want to bring is an edge you know like um i'm i'm paraphrasing here and probably misquoting him but it was along the lines of like the queensland are like a lot of australian teams that they're brilliant on their day and can beat anyone but it's you got to be able to roll the sleeves up and win you know in all circumstances yeah and um Yeah, I reckon you're right.

Like we were talking about this earlier.

Oftentimes you ask New Zealand coaches who come over here.

I tell you what Rieko's done over the last, uh, three years that you're talking about.

So when Vern Cotter got to New Zealand, right? He brought a style of rugby that was not like the Blues, and that style of rugby was your 12 and your 13 need to run as hard as they can and get the forwards over the advantage line, so the forwards can then punish the opposition.

He completely changed what the Blues play, and he said to Rieko, "Stop outside breaks.

What we want you doing is defending and crashing the ball up." When he got to the All Blacks, the All Blacks said, "You can't pass and you can't defend, so start [laughs] working on this." Right? Rieko was the best defensive center we had in the All Blacks for the last two years, 'cause he didn't play last year, right? Two years before that.
