Vermont Electric Cooperative

Everything you've done for Vermont, we want to purchase and make that part of the cooperative.

And in my office at Wake Electric, I have a receipt where my grandfather and grandmother Harry and Pearl sold their business for $40 to the board of directors of Vermont Electric Cooperative, and they made him the original superintendent, which was the general manager back then.

So he became sort of the founding general manager of Vermont Electric Cooperative.

Did that for 15, 20 years.

There was a cooperative in Virginia called Craig Botetourt Electric Cooperative that was under some duress for being... asking members to sell to aep and nreca calls my grandfather and says would you come down and help them decide whether this is a good thing or not so he comes down to craig bata tot he brings his children which included my father at age two i believe and brought him down and and looked it over and says no we need to save this cooperative it needs to remain a cooperative and it remains a cooperative today he became the general manager my grant my father went into the Marine Corps and was going to be in the Marine Corps for life, I believe, until my grandfather said, you know, I've gotten prostate cancer and I need some help at the co-op.
