When a second Nazi hunter, Vera Atkins, came looking for her girls from special operations, Barquith helped her track down the evil doctor who had murdered them.

Together, they would bring the Nazi war criminals to justice.

In August 1944, two months after the Allies had stormed the Normandy beaches, they were pushing the German army deeper and deeper back into France.

Up in the hills above the Gestapo's camp at Schiermeck, the Nazis had been running a secret concentration camp called Natzweiler.

Among its victims were Jews, members of the French Resistance, and British undercover agents.

Barkworth's investigations at Natzweiler had caught the attention of a fellow Nazi hunter, Vera Atkins, of the Special Operations Executive.

She was looking for her own agents, missing in action in the same part of France.

Sadly, it would take a month to get Virginia to London, but once she got there, she was welcomed like a celebrity by those at SOE headquarters.

They picked her up from the station in a Humber limousine, not Hummer, but Humber apparently [laughs], and drove her through the London arch at the Orchard Court, where she went to number six and was met by Maurice Buckmaster, Nicholas Bodington, the one who had gotten her the job with the SOE to begin with, and a new intelligence officer who would become a key player, Vera Atkins.

Yep, another woman.
