Um.

Beau's medical journey began before he was born, when he was diagnosed with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, a congenital defect that leaves the right side of the heart underdeveloped.

Prenatal tests found that Beau had anomalous pulmonary venous return, in which the Veins carrying blood from the lungs drain into the heart's right atrium instead of the left and heterotaxy syndrome in which organs form in abnormal places in the chest or abdomen.

Beau's first open-heart surgery came hours after his birth and he underwent two more by the time he was two.

The third was intended to be his final open-heart surgery but in the aftermath of that procedure beau developed a rare complication called plastic bronchitis which causes fluid to build up in the airways and form rubbery plugs called casts it made me more tired and it was harder to breathe beau said He underwent surgeries and procedures at Stead Family Children's Hospital and in Philadelphia to address that condition and was stable for several years.

You know, my my experience is.

in virtual is, I mean, we're getting, for the Vein and Lymphatic Summit alone, we had 56 countries in attendance.

We had over 650 attendees.

Like some of these conferences I go to have three or 300, two or 300 attendees.

How does the online conference model serve vendors? How do you envision it?

Yeah.

So what we do, and I think we do this better than anybody, we'll take a topic, for example, let's say it's the Vein and Lymphatic Summit.

I'll just use that as an example because you guys are both vascular surgeons.

This is what, you know, carries oxygen, helps you breathe, function, move your muscles, helps your brain think.

Veins are just the return segment of the highway.

So it's also carrying blood, but it's all deoxygenated.

You know, blood flows through the artery to your muscle.

So typically, you know, arteries are smaller.

They're a little bit more difficult to treat than veins.

Veins are a little bit more stretchier, elastic.

And so the devices or equipment we use to treat a blood clot in a vein or an artery is also different.
