Real quick, I wanted to shout out Brooklyn Vegan, the great longstanding, super respected indie rock blog, Brooklyn Vegan, which got hit with mass layoffs recently alongside other great music publications including Revolver, Goldmine, and my beloved Alternative Press Magazine.

Specifically, Brooklyn Vegan and those other places got hit with mass layoffs orchestrated by their parent company, something called Veeps.

Uh, Veeps is owned by Live Nation, and Veeps was co-founded initially as some sort of ticketing platform by Joel and Benji Madden of the noted pop punk band, Good Charlotte.

I got nothing against that band personally or musically, but nonetheless, with apologies to all you Good Charlotte fans out there, the hypothetical Good Charlotte episode of this show is hereby canceled until those guys knock it off.

Let me just observe politely that the 2002 Good Charlotte single, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," a Top 20 pop hit and a medium catchy anthem of working-class solidarity and perhaps even outright class warfare, this song sure hits different now that these bums are using their Live Nation-affiliated ticketing and media company to lay off humble, hardworking rock critics.

But this really just Yeah, it kind of comes full circle.

So I think, yeah, they founded this company called Veeps, which now is majority owned by Live Nation, which obviously has its own set of issues in terms of concert prizes and tickets and all of that type of stuff.

And apparently this is one of the things that I found.

Ironically, it's not that long ago.

And basically, like, it kind of takes you through ages 12 through 18 and just kind of a more in-depth and funny explanation of a lot of what we just talked about.

And so that is coming out on September 10th on Veeps.

We are doing a whole lot of fun stuff to promo it.

Remember a couple of weeks back when the Madden Twins company Veeps, a subsidiary of Live Nation, gutted their online music publications? At the time, it looked like the last one standing in indie journalism was Stereogum and its managing editor Chris DeVille.

Whatever the outcome of that, Chris took to his Such Great Heights substack, not Stereogum, for a state of indie music post this week.

Indy has a long tradition of deep self-analysis or navel-gazing, so it's a very long read.

Five Finger Death Punch have confirmed their forthcoming September 8th show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado will be live streaming for free via Veeps.
