Vayigash

Maybe this is only another shiita that holds like Rav Shimon part of the way, but not Rav Shimon's shiita actually.

The Meshech Chachmah in Vayigash, kidarka bakodesh, picking up on every word of the, of the Torah, says, the pasuk says by, uh, by Yosef, when Yosef took all the animals of the Egyptians and gave them food instead, and he gave all his, his, the animals then to his servants to put away, the pasuk says, "Vayitem lahem Yosef lechem ba-susim," he gave them bread for their horses, "u'ba mikneh, u'bemikneh hatzon u'bemikneh habakar u'vachamorim." Asks the Meshech Chachmah, why here are susim and chamorim split up? Says, right, "Lechem ba-susim u'ba mikneh hatzon, mikneh habakar u'vachamorim." And later on in Va'era, when it talks about the makka of wiping out the animals, "Vaha- vehinne yad Hashem hayah ba-mikneh asher basadeh, ba-susim, ba-chamorim, ba-gamalim, ba-bakar, u'vatzon." There bakar v'atzon is after.

You put susim and gama-- and, uh, chamorim and gamalim together.

And are not in this pasuk where Yosef gives them out, so it separated them.

So if a person doesn't have that, he's not Maritz.

Rabbi Yaakov Kavanetzky has a fascinating piece in Emes Li Yaakov on the Chumash, I think it may be Parashat Vayigash or Vayichi, where he talks about the ramifications of being a person who's not Shemesh Tamid Chachamim, who doesn't have a Masorah.

and just does everything on his own, just studies from the books.

Even if he studies all the books and he's brilliant and he knows it all by heart.

that Dovid Avdi, Dovid Avdi is Malchus, Dovid, my servant, will be a nosi alein, will be the leader above them all.

like we actually say in the Haftarah Vayigash, where he talks about that today, meaning the time of Yasef and Yehuda, Yasef was the Mishnah LeMelech.

He was the second in command, and Yehuda was a subject of his at the time.

But Lassi Laveh, the opposite will be the case, where Malchus will elevate to a higher level, higher than Yasef.

So with that, let's go straight to the next mimer.

We move to page 169, mimer number 16.

It's Vayechi, following Vayigash.

What does the Friedrich Rebbe say about the Teich and Aschol HaSameimer? Remember, the Friedrich Rebbe wrote a short few words for each Meimer.

He thought that Yosef and the brothers is very much a story of teshuva.

In other words, the cheit of the sinat achim was in Parshat Vayeshev, and then Vayigash, and Miketz and Vayigash is all doing, uh, doing teshuva to get the family back together again.

The Rav thought that a lot of the yissurin that the brothers went through, that Yosef imposed upon them, that was part of their teshuva.

So I think if you ask somebody, they'll-- they would-- again, if they'd be misbonenet, they would say, "Well, I need to have some kind of, uh, onesh." So we don't have Baruch Hashem, we, we don't have onshin nowadays, we don't have, uh, onshin like they based it.

You can mamash live a, a free life, a happy life, a healthy life without any of these things just by satiating yourself with HaKadosh Baruch Hu's light alone." So we continue from the second column on the bottom of page ayin vav amud alef, and it says, "V'yehi l'tzadik, v'zeh." Now, this is peshat.

In the pesukim, Vayigash, you have Yehuda.

Like we began with, Vayigash.

Yehuda approaches Yosef.

"Datukru-- dekrufta d'malka l'malka." Like we said, this is the coming together of yichud.

We are in the 15th Maimah, the Maimah of Vayigash.

And discussing Maayin, who I say this by Neshama Lal Islamayla.

Where does the Neshama have the power to elevate as well as to be drawn down to draw Daniel the Kuz down below, the Rotsi V'Shuv essentially of the soul.

Both a Psucha and a Stuma, according to everybody we're going to see, has some sort of space.

Vayechi, it just goes from the end of Vayigash into Vayechi, no space whatsoever.

So it's interesting that Rashi calls that a Parsha Stuma.

It is not a Halachic Parsha Stuma, as is understood by the Suggah that we're going to be learning.

It's not a parasha stuma that has an interruption.

There's no interruption whatsoever.

One word goes right into the other as if it's a... you know, there's no punctuation, obviously, in Sefer Torah, one, the end, the last word of Vayigash goes straight into the first word of Vayechi, as if it was any other Tubsukim that are joined, and Rashi tells us the reason this is, we'll call it Superstuma, is that once Yaakov Inu died, so, so then started the Saras Hashibud started the Avdus and therefore it is a super stuma but not a stuma as we're going to be learning about.

That's explained in the Sifsei Chachamim on that first Rashi in Parshas Vayechi.

And now we're ready to go into the next Meimer.

So, the next Meimer is Vayigash.

159, and as always, begins with questions on the Pesach, and then goes back to the theme, the central theme that he's been discussing.

What does the Friedrich Rebbe say about this Meimer, the Teichnas Choles HaMeimer? He says, that this Meimer Vayigash concerns itself with where does the Neshama have the power of Rotsi V'Shuv? So even though, yes, we understand it comes from Hashem, but we're going to go into more specifics into this, where it comes from.

Because if you recall, a big part of Samach Vav is the inspiration from above, but the bottom line is the work from below reaches the deepest levels.

So we're going to get into that.

And this is called Vayigash Eloh.

So the pimer begins, Vayishabas Pashva Vayigash Reh Samach Vav, page 159.
