Van's Aircraft RV-7

Trevor and James and all the guys do a great job of getting some static aircraft every year.

This year we had Team Raven, the Sea King, and a few other, like, visiting, uh, aircraft like the RV-7 that also did a display.

Last year, uh, or the year before when we had Felix Baumgartner, uh, which I think was actually last year, uh, rest in peace to him, he came in the BO 105 from the Flying Bulls, which was a just absolutely stunning display, absolutely brilliant.

Um, and there was some o- uh, you know, the Sea King was also there last year as well.

... sitting next to Ryan Beaton, the smile on his face going over the top of a loop, it just, uh, it brings tears to the eyes.

Doesn't matter who you are, um, you, uh... there's no dry eye watching that experience, you know, in that RV-7.

Um, also, you know, flying with Alton Bondy in the Cessna 140, you know, and, and the, and the, and the child can't even hold the stick because he's, he's just got stumps, but they're so happy.

Oh, man.

The Federal Aviation Administration's experimental aircraft certification framework is what makes all of it possible.

It is the same regulatory category that covers a home-built Van's RV-7 in a private hangar and a Boeing seven seventy-seven being modified to launch hypersonic vehicles from altitude.

That is not a coincidence.

The experimental category exists to enable innovation that the type certificate pro-t-pro-pro-- tr-pro-- type-- ty-ty-- t-t-- t-t-t [spitting] t-t-t-t [spitting] l-l-l-l [burping] like, l-l-l-l [burping] like, l-l-l-l [burping] The conversion of a commercial airliner for experimental test operations is a significant engineering program in its own right.
