And once I start finding an author, like Vanessa Van Kerckhove, you know? You find an author that you really enjoy, and then usually that author is gonna send you, "Now read this book," or, you know, "Take this workshop," or, or what have you.

What if the reason kids struggle with math isn't about teaching at all, but rather about what's happening inside their brains? Like, what actually goes on in there when a child sees a number for the first time or tries to make sense of a plus sign? And why does that process break down for some kids and not others? I spend all day talking to educators about strategies, pedagogy, differentiation, the teaching side of math, but I do think we're not borrowing enough from psychology, cognitive science, and neuroscience.

Let me see how you're thinking about this before I make decisions about what I'm going to do.
