Vancouver Fire Department

On Wednesday, October 14th at 9:00 AM, the Vancouver Fire Department fireboat and Clark County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol responded to a deceased female located floating in the Columbia River downstream from the Interstate five bridge.

The identity of the female is currently unknown, and the death is considered suspicious.

The female is described as possibly Asian or Pacific Islander with brown hair and brown eyes.

The batteries, used in everything from cell phones and laptops to cameras and e-bikes, can reach an unstable state, producing heat, products of combustion, and all too often- Causing fires.

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Vancouver Fire Department is urging people to charge safely without turning up the heat.

There's some things you can do to protect yourself.

That includes using the correct and approved charger for each device, charging on a hard surface, looking for warning signs like heat or a smell, unplug when fully charged, charge e-bikes, scooters, and large tools outside, and always have devices charging in plain sight.
