A chill went down Hanuman's spine.

If Vibhishana is out here, Hanuman gasped, then who did I just let inside? Panic gripped the great Vanara warrior.

He unraveled his tail and peered inside the fortress.

To his horror, Rama and Lakshmana were gone and their place was a gaping hole leading deep into the earth.

Hanuman quickly broke the iron chains binding Rama and Lakshmana.

Placing the two princes gently on his broad shoulders, he soared up through the subaltern tunnel, returning them safely to the surface.

The entire Vanara army erupted into joyful cheers.

Vibhishana and Sugriva embraced Hanuman, praising his intelligence, swiftness and unwavering devotion.

As far as Hanuman could see, the land was strewn with fallen Vanara soldiers.

Hanuman and Vibhishana were amongst the very few who had survived the mighty weapon, the Brahmastra, unleashed by Indrajith.

Having lost his finest generals to the mighty Vanara army, Ravana had led the troops himself to face Rama.

However, Rama had triumphed.

Rama's arrows had scattered the army, shattered Ravana's chariot, and knocked the demon king to the ground.

He promised, preparing himself for the battle ahead.

The main gates of Lanka burst open and the giant strode out with a terrifying roar.

The Vanara warriors froze in their tracks at the sight of him.

With his head reaching towards the clouds and shoulders as wide as mountain peaks, Kumbhakarna was a daunting force.

He then described in detail the battle he had fought with the entire Vanara army and how he had struck down the princess of Ayodhya with his cosmic serpent weapon.

They are lying in the dirt of the battlefield.

The Vanaras are huddled around the fallen leaders, completely defeated, he concluded.

Ravana was

overjoyed, but suddenly a roar echoed from the plains below the citadel.

Ravana sent the messenger back to the

field to investigate.

And then, uh, Sugriva becomes the king again.

And, uh, with his army of, uh, Vanaras, the, the monkeys, he, um...

Or they're not exactly monkeys.

They're monkey-like creatures.

Imposters! Vibhishana declared, pointing a finger at them.

Before the spies could run, the Vanara gods pounced, pinning the two struggling shapeshifters to the ground.

Their disguises melted away, revealing their true, terrifying demon forms.

The Warnara warriors dragged the trembling spies before Rama.

Show them our weapon stores, introduce them to our generals and let them count our numbers properly." Sukha and Sarana

could hardly believe their ears.

The Vanara gods marched them through the entire camp.

Everywhere the spies looked, they saw endless regiments of fierce, towering bears, giant apes wielding massive iron maces, and agile monkeys preparing spears.

Then came Virupaksha.

Then the mighty Kumbhakaran, whose enormous strength had struck fear into the Vanara army.

Atike too had fallen.

One by one, the greatest warriors of Lanka had been defeated and finally came Ravan himself, the king of Lanka, the mighty ruler who had once made the three worlds tremble.

Look among your own ranks, Prince of Ayodhya.

There is a Vanara general named Nala.

He is the son of Vishwakarma, the divine architect of the gods.

He has a special ability, a gift from a sage.

With a splash of sparkling foam, Samudra sank back into the cool depths of the ocean, leaving behind a smooth, calm sea.

Without wasting a moment, Rama turned to the generals and summoned Nala alongside his brother, Nila.

Both were mighty commanders in the army of Sugriva, the Vanara king.

They possessed shoulders as broad as mountain ridges and strength that rivaled even the legendary Hanuman.
