That's pretty good.
FionaHOST
4:48
Basically, this idea that comes from, certainly through the Van Richten's book, it talks about the idea that life is cheap here.
FionaHOST
4:55
As far as the land's esteemed scholars are concerned, the spark that animates Fludge is merely the result of chemical accents and proper formulas.
FionaHOST

And then it talks a little bit about golems, homunculi, and other constructed beings grown into life to support the populace desperate to survive this frigid realm.

yes
FionaHOST
17:57
yes yes she basically was they were working together to discover things and then when she found out elise was wasting away was dying she started to increase her research and so it wasn't just dead bodies she was going out and getting people to get you know anyone she wanted to reanimate because she was like desperate at this point so that desperation to ensure that her love carried on living for whatever means necessary and presumably it's very Victorian so of course no one ever expresses their feelings it's all sort of undercurrent so that desperation and yet just as she places the heart in and does the like it's alive moment the constable's breaking and going like you're a murderer and also body snatching is not cool it's exactly the same story in Van Richten's I will say the only difference I bet there's more.
FionaHOST
18:41
No, no, no, it's exactly the same.
Fiona HowatHOST
1:55
So yes, absolutely.
Fiona HowatHOST
1:57
And yes, as you pointed out, the Ravenloft Horrors Within is almost like a reboot or a revamp of Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, which came out a couple of years ago.
Fiona HowatHOST
2:07
And I will say at the time, it was one of my favorite books.
Fiona HowatHOST
2:11
I hadn't read it all entirely, but it was one of those things where I was like, oh, this is exactly what's right up my street as Spooky McGee over here.
Fiona HowatHOST
6:54
Yeah, I often wonder if maybe the domain sees something in you, like, oh, you're just exactly like this Dark Lord, and you've got flaws exactly like him, so you should belong here.
Fiona HowatHOST
7:05
This is a prison for you, you know, that sort of thing.
Fiona HowatHOST
7:07
And certainly in Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, for each plane, they talk about, like, what if your character is from here, and asks you some questions about it, which I think is great, and it's my early criticism, they don't have that in Ravenloft.
Fiona HowatHOST
7:21
Oh, that's good.
Adam NasonHOST
5:37
you almost have a couple of times Megan both both Charlie and I want to say Dan thought about this long and hard Charlie ended up playing Hexblood instead but uh but we almost saw this and I'm like yeah that makes sense these guys would freaking thrive in Vampire the Masquerade
Megan LengleHOST
5:53
oh yeah absolutely well I mean they came in from like Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft and like you know like as like a first playable species so it makes sense
Stephen GoldingNARRATOR
6:02
Yeah.
Megan LengleHOST
6:02
But, but yeah, no, I've never, I've never played one and I have never been at a table with one before.
Megan LengleHOST
6:42
So a little bit of quick history here.
Megan LengleHOST
6:43
The Dom Pure was first kind of introduced, I believe, back in the third edition as just kind of a creature stat block, not necessarily as a playable species.
Megan LengleHOST
6:51
It wasn't until 2021 when they came out with Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft when it came out as a playable race for the first time.
Megan LengleHOST
7:01
Which, again, now has been rewritten again.
Dan DillonHOST
4:02
I did have a hand in a bit of that.
Dan DillonHOST
4:04
I worked on Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft.
Dan DillonHOST

So, you know, conflict of interest disclosure there.
I-Hsien SherwoodHOST
4:09

I-Hsien SherwoodHOST

Authors.
I-Hsien SherwoodHOST

I-Hsien SherwoodHOST
