And that's a thing personally that I love because as a young Auckland footballer, I had to go south for my opportunity, my professional opportunity.

Whereas this generation of players, And I'm talking to the likes of the Luca Veselich's, so Ivan Veselich's son, the likes of Van Fitzharris, who's come from Tauranga.

They are players that have gone straight into this machine and are supporting it.

But that's the player development side of things.

So these are guys that should be able to step up and they know what it's like to be part of a winning side.

Van Fitzharris as well, wasn't it? Not Fitz Van Harris, I got that very wrong last year, Sam.

But I think one of the interesting things for me, and being really passionate about the space as a Kiwi, and always looking at the next generation to come through, because we don't have the depth, are those youngsters.

And it feels like, with the appointment of Pedro, that there is now perhaps more of a balanced view around win now and develop.

And we're seeing Luka Vasilic, Van Fitzharris, Dan Norman even coming up from the OFC team.

Sean Cartwright has been brought across from the Melbourne City system into Auckland, and he's a young Kiwi as well.

Is there a visible investment into that next generation?

And then Jake Brimmer, haven't seen much of him, so maybe he partners Howison in that defensive midfield role.

But yeah, the basis of a really good team is there.

Yeah, Van Fitzharris is the other one.

He got, um, a few appearances last year and always added vigor off the bench.

Maybe his opportunities will be, uh, bigger with, you know, the likes of Randall and Mai and Gillian and Francois not there anymore.

Maybe Van Fitzharris might have a few more opportunities to, to show what he can do.

At preseason, uh, Auckland FC had that game against Tottenham, of course, back in July.

They went across to the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and went down one-nil to, uh, to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
