Jawad YaqubHOST
41:00
I forgot who he tangled with on the track or he held up there, but it wasn't good for him.
Jawad YaqubHOST
41:07
He retired at the end of the day and Ocon finished 14th, while we look at Cadillac, Valtteri Bottas, another retirement for him, triggering the late VSC and Sergio Perez finishing 19th.
Jawad YaqubHOST
41:23
I thought he would be 15th or something I said in my predictions in the predictions league but not a great day for either of the American teams
Tom DowneyHOST
41:33
uh no a home race to forget
Tom DowneyHOST
42:11
that's it is what it is and at least Perez finished the race I do want to talk about the VSC and one thing that really struck me at the time when it came out was I don't know if this is the FAA's call or what but they really didn't want to put that tractor out on the circuit because I was amazed it wasn't a full safety car I wonder if they did that because they didn't want to call a safety car so that we didn't get a sort of restart at the end of the race.
Tom DowneyHOST
42:43
I don't know.
Tom DowneyHOST
42:44
But when I saw that, the thing that really irked me was Bottas' car was dangling in the air like a carrot, and...
Tom DowneyHOST
42:55
They ended the VSC.
Luke MartinHOST
18:34
He then...
Luke MartinHOST
18:36
You know, Rosberg left, brought in Bottas, and they had a very good team structure.
Luke MartinHOST
18:40
They were constantly winning the constructors, and he had a very comfortable world champion that was constantly delivering there as well.
Luke MartinHOST
18:49
But if George Russell is at a point where all of a sudden Mercedes are not able to comfortably win that constructors because he is finishing too far off, then I firmly believe he will be looking at the drawing board and he will be saying, who do we bring in, guys? Hmm.

6 MINS LATER

Matt JacksonHOST
24:46
It's weird, right? So they put out a VSC.
Matt JacksonHOST
24:49
They're trying to push the Cadillac back.
Matt JacksonHOST
24:51
I think it was Bottas who retired.
Matt JacksonHOST
24:52
They tried to push it back and then they decided to bring out the tractor, forklift, whatever it's called, picked it up.
speaker_0HOST
14:54
As far as the retirements that I mentioned, Oliver Bierman, he was one of the retirements.
speaker_0HOST
15:01
Botas, who was driving for Cadillac, now he retired after 48 laps, so he could have made it to the end.
speaker_0HOST
15:10
It's very unfortunate.
speaker_0HOST
15:12
Uh, another person that did not make it was Franco Calapinto.
speaker_0HOST
15:16
Okay.
speaker_0HOST
15:17
Um, now Botas retirement out of the three, I mentioned to you guys, that was actually strategically really important because that triggered, as I told you guys, that happened really towards the end.
speaker_0HOST
15:30
So, that actually triggered a virtual safety car, okay? And, you know, that really kind of bunched up the field again, okay? So that did have some implications in the race, excuse me.
speaker_0HOST
15:49
Now, let's go back to the bigger picture, guys, with Antonelli securing this victory.
Daniel MoxonPANELIST
11:47
was and all three of them sort of met at the same time and were like oh ok this is going to be quite a feisty little battle and it was a short one but it was a fun little fight you know Max deciding that the best form of defence was offence as they say and instead of defending from charles just went well sorry i might as well send it up the inside of lando and he made it work um so that that was a fun little deal but but charles had too much pace for the both of them he made it work got himself into second place and then we were looking at lewis what could he do he was a little bit further back he'd been compromised earlier in the race um he was saying he had balance issues uh on his car um that red bull ferrari i should say Didn't get the balance quite right on his car, but they tweaked things throughout the race and things got better in the finalists, didn't they? He was showing really, really good pace.
Daniel MoxonPANELIST
12:34
Got himself up to fourth, was hunting down Max and then Valtteri Bottas pulls over at the side of the track with four laps to go.
Daniel MoxonPANELIST
12:42
Virtual safety car comes out.
Daniel MoxonPANELIST
12:43
Everyone's got to stick to the same delta time.
Kunal ShahHOST
22:17
I agree fully.
Kunal ShahHOST
22:17
Look at Valtteri Bottas, the slowest car on the grid.
Kunal ShahHOST
22:20
And yet, he will be replaced, seemingly, by Korten Herta.
Kunal ShahHOST
22:25
That's the news.
AndyHOST
19:35
And I was like, oh, okay, that's kind of interesting.
AndyHOST
19:37
But then Bottas went and scuppered them from that.
AndyHOST
19:38
Yeah.
EltonHOST
19:40
Yeah, yeah.
AndyHOST
21:42
I mean, there was a couple of retirements, wasn't there? There was...
AndyHOST
21:46
Behrman and Colapinto.
AndyHOST
21:49
Oh, and Bottas, but, you know, so two retirements.
AndyHOST
21:52
I mean, Behrman had...
AndyHOST
19:35
And I was like, oh, okay, that's kind of interesting.
AndyHOST
19:37
But then Bottas went and scuppered them from that.
AndyHOST
19:38
Yeah.
EltonHOST
19:40
Yeah, yeah.
AndyHOST
21:42
I mean, there was a couple of retirements, wasn't there? There was...
AndyHOST
21:46
Behrman and Colapinto.
AndyHOST
21:49
Oh, and Bottas, but, you know, so two retirements.
AndyHOST
21:52
I mean, Behrman had...
LawVSHOST
14:25
At least Williams are finishing 17th and 18th, which is not something could be said for the caddies.
LawVSHOST
14:30
Those two Williams cars, they were not 19th in a DNF because Cadillac's home race ended with Perez last among the finishers and Bottas parked up with a suspected power unit problem.
LawVSHOST
14:42
At least it wasn't the brakes this time.
LawVSHOST
14:43
And the vultures are circling around him regarding next year, too.
LawVSHOST
14:51
That being said, when times were good, he and Checo felt like they were closer to the opposition, but...
LawVSHOST
14:57
they were ultimately losers again.
LawVSHOST
14:59
Their biggest influence came through Bottas' retirement, triggering the late virtual safety car, so it's almost like Bottas has taken up the mantle from Stroll in trying to influence things further up the field, because the Cadillac, the car itself, really can't do that in terms of pace.
LawVSHOST
15:13
Because this time around, it was stopping the Hamilton pursuit of Verstappen for P3, something of which nobody asked for and, well, nobody wanted.
Jamie MuffettHOST
15:29
I guess you can say that's a good thing for Cadillac.
Jamie MuffettHOST
15:32
Valtteri retired.
Jamie MuffettHOST
15:33
Franco retired.
Jamie MuffettHOST
15:34
Oli retired.
HuppyHOST
5:37
So the car did have some pace in it.
HuppyHOST
5:40
And yeah, I guess there was also the late safety car, a virtual safety car for Valtteri's Bottas that parked up on lap 52.
HuppyHOST
5:49
I
SchwagsHOST
5:50
was worried that was going to be a mess because they kind of mucked around trying to get that car out.
