From there, you have the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens.

And then a few other places comes back to Luxor, where you'll see some more sites in that area, and then go back to Cairo.

And then from there, we're going to take you through the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens and give you time.

And the guide will take you into a few of the tombs and kind of explain the Egyptian burial rites.

You'll get to see some of the most famous of them.

However, no inscription explicitly naming Nefertiti has surfaced there, and so this theory remains circumstantial.

Another theory suggests that Nefertiti might have a tomb in the Valley of the Queens, or another part of the Theban Hills.

As the principal wife of a pharaoh, she could have been buried in a separate royal wife's tomb, rather than the main valley of the kings.

The valley of the queens, where queens of later dynasties were buried, has been explored, but many tombs there were heavily looted.

Meanwhile, Zahi Hawass has been actively pursuing a different angle in an attempt to crack this case.

Hawass has for years led a project re-examining unidentified mummies from the late 18th dynasty using modern DNA analysis.

I'm traveling back north to get inside Nefertari's tomb, the place where I can find more evidence of the woman herself.

Located in the Valley of the Queens, its scenes are so delicate that access is limited.

I've just been given permission to personally unlock the tomb of Nefertari, the great royal wife of Ramses II, and I'm really excited because this is an absolute gem of a tomb.

I've only ever seen it once before when I was much younger, so this is going to be a rare treat.

A visit by the king's agent, bringing the letter, saying, Begin the tomb of the king's great wife, Tausret.

Now, under normal circumstances, we might assume that tomb would be in the Valley of the Queens, or another nearby necropolis.

But it wasn't.

Tausret's burial monument is right next to her husband, in the upper end of the king's valley.

In fact, it is rather the sepulchre of a possible heir to the throne than that of a king.

A comparison of the tomb plan with that of the tombs of the king's mothers, the king's wives, and the king's children in the Valley of the Queens, and with the tombs of his predecessors and successors in the Valley of the Kings, will, I think, show this.

From its style of work and certain idiosyncrasies observable, it is not improbable that it was made by the same hand as the vault that contained the transported burial of Ankenaten, which is in its near vicinity.

The plan of that vault closely resembles the tomb of Tutankhamun, and both are alike variants of the plan and principles of the tombs of the Theban monarchs of the Empire.
