Valley Baseball League

And, I started coaching in college in 1988.

And my first summer, I was in the Valley League, which is a summer league.

And, you know, it's not the Cape Cod or the New England League now, but the Valley League is still going.

But that league was really big back then.

And I got a chance to meet a half a dozen Division I coaches.

During his senior season in 2017, he received York Region All-Tournament team, second team, uh, ABCA All-Region, and first team VASID All-State honors.

Uh, after graduating with his master's, Haught began working with the Woodstock River Bandits in the Valley Baseball League, and then he went to work at Western Albemarle, I hope I'm saying that right, High School in providing, in Virginia, providing athletic coverage for all the high school teams.

So this guy has experience both with, uh, working with high school students, a- athletes, and college athletes, which we're gonna, we're gonna talk about the differences of those today, too.

So, uh, today I'd like to welcome to the show, uh, UNCW athletic trainer, Tyler Haught.

I mean, in professional base- I got into pro ball thinking as a college coach I'd been very successful.

You know, I'd managed in the Valley League, won a championship, and I'm thinking, "I got this stuff really knocked." And I, I, you know, went to work for the Kansas City Royals and, uh, Howie Bedell, field coordinator at the time, uh, with guys like Gene Lamont, you know, and, and, uh, Bill Fisher with the pitching and, uh, I, uh, found out how little I really knew.

Yeah.
