Valgrisenche

Let's, let's have a look-see.

Well, yeah, so there were f- a couple of climbs and, and I remember coming into, um, to Valgrisenche which is...

No. Yeah, Valgrisenche, which is the first life base, and I said to Elizabeth, I said, "What the fuck? How am I gonna do this?" That was so hard.

The first 50K was so fucking hard, and I'm like, "I don't know how I'm gonna do-- This is...

Fuck." You know? Like, I'd had enough.

[laughs]

So, ugh.

So anyway, and, and I'd found the downhill's really technical, and I was stressing 'cause you come out of Valgrisenche and this Alex guy had sent me the, um, profile card, said, "The next descent is technical." And I'm like, "If those weren't technical, what's this next one gonna be?" And I was freaking out, and Elizabeth was like, "But that's his opinion, Mum.

I, I knew what the outcome was gonna be.

And I spoke to Robbie at the time, very graciously responded to a voice message, and I just told him what had gone on, and he just said, "Get it taped and see what happens." Got to the medic at first life base at Valgrisenche.

I was n-- uh, ninety minutes slower to Valgrisenche this year than I was when I had COVID last year Just to put in perspective how much I'd slowed.

Um, and the medic just said, "Look, I can, I can tape this.

We can tape it hard in position.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to Lorna Muirhead, who when she was with Sophie Power out at UTMB contacted me 'cause Sophie told her I was doing Tor.

She was crewing a Canadian runner, Brad, and had offered to take a bag for me in case I saw her.

She happened to be at Valgrisenche.
