Lewis helped the Kings to their only two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014 as he became the first Utah to make a Stanley Cup final appearance.

He also skated in six ECHL games for the Utah Grizzlies during the NHL's lockout in 2012-2013.

Among the six Utah-born NHL players of all time, Lewis ranks first in career games played and second in points.

Steve Konowalczyk is first, I believe.

Where did you guys play? Where did you guys play together?

We played together for the Utah Grizzlies in Salt Lake City.

Kevin shoveled day off with assistant coach, assistant GM, and Butch Coring was GM and head coach.

And that was about all for our front office back then.

And I'll tell you, Tim, the place opened in 06.

My first memory of coming up here is in 07 for a Utah Grizzlies preseason game that was sold out.

And as you mentioned, New Mexico also Trenton coming in this year.

Now that's a transfer of Utah.

Augusta is on the docket once their building is finished next year.

And unfortunately we have to relocate Iowa, but that's in the works and we're trying to get that done so that we can get 32, 32, 32.

Yeah, you touched on Trenton there, obviously, you know, pro hockey coming back to your home state there with New Jersey.

But, you know, how does that one come together? Are you getting phone calls of, hey, we really want a team in our city? How long is the process sort of there once you knew, you know, things unfortunately weren't going to stay in Utah?

Yeah, so again, you're always looking for viable markets, viable buildings, trying to keep a list of potential opportunities.

That name might sound familiar.

And Trenton getting a team again, the IronHawks, as, um, you know, you've spent some time in the ECHL.

Um, um, how's it feel to see these new teams bumping, bumping up and, and seeing a team like the Utah Grizzlies unfortunately have to fold? Or like the Iowa Har- Heartlanders, who have to take a year off for, for reasons.

Yeah.

Unfortunately, you, you see the good and the bad there.

I hope that they can make it back at some point, uh, as well.

You know, being in Iowa for three years, um, I thought that was something that would work a little bit better, but the attendance numbers just were, were never there, uh, unfortunately from that perspective.

And Utah, I think as much as they were gonna try to make a go of it, uh, you know, Utah Mammoth being right there, um, that was going to make it very, very difficult from that perspective.

So, uh, there's always some sort of rotation.
