But before it belonged to the state, it was the Kearns Mansion.

Thomas Kearns struck it rich in Park City's silver mining in 1889.

He became a US Senator and a co-owner of the Salt Lake Tribune, And in 1902, he and his wife Jenny built this place, about 17,000 square feet, designed by Carl Neuhausen, the same architect that built the Cathedral of the Madeleine.
