And so yeah, I guess she made a request that the Congressional Record be so noted that Chris Brown and Usher are very important to R&B and, uh-

Black joy at the highest level

So I didn't hear about this until Sunday when I got on Threads and Representative Vinton Jones posted several photos from this evening.

Chris Brown looks like an absolute menace in the background of these pictures.

But he posted on Threads and said, "Last night I had the honor of joining Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett on stage at the Usher and Chris Brown concert.

Together we recognized Chris Brown for his lasting impact on music, presenting him with an official State of Texas Legislative recognition, alongside an official Congressional Record entered by Congresswoman Crockett.

And then this right here, this next line, this is the most, like- Quintessential DC political maneuvering.

This is what got even more people pissed off, because he says that they were only there to use Chris Brown, and Usher, who he was performing with, to get votes.

All right, listen to this, "I went with the intention of acknowledging the musical careers of two prominent R&B artists, Chris Brown and Usher Raymond, and to leverage the opportunity to reach thousands of everyday people, voters, and non-voters exactly where they are.

We saw it as a moment to underscore the critical importance of turning out to vote ahead of the upcoming midterm election on November 3rd, as the future of our state and our democracy is on the line." In that same breath, "That message was not communicated to you, thus the impact extended beyond its original intent." I mean, like, seriously, this is so dumb.

To think that giving Chris Brown a Congressional award is going to win you voters...

And I wanna offer my apology, um, to Black women, to women, and to anyone who has experienced domestic violence, and really express that it was not my intention, um, to be able to, to stoke, um, the traumas that, that, that goes into that, as well as the, the background of this situation.

We were here, um, at the, at the request, you know, of the venue to, to come in, um, and to be able to honor, um, the importance of this evening that was going on.

So both Chris Brown and Usher, um, we were brought in to help and talk to and mobilize, um, voters who need to be engaged right now in this very important election that we have going on.

I don't understand the hate, though.

Chris posted, funny thing is, y'all came to me with this, not the other way around.

It feels a little bit like the last throws of 90s R&B right here, especially like late 90s R&B.

Definitely, though, all I think of when I hear this song is I feel like Usher said, nah, I'm going to pay us all that one.

They're like, it's okay.

Here you go, because this is definitely like an Usher beat and an Usher song that Usher just doesn't happen to be singing on.

Yeah.

And I've always wondered, like, what would this chorus sound like if Usher sang it? But yeah, it's a good song.

And Josh is right.

It is a song that always hits when people hear it.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go to a show.

I'm saying that of all the artists, hell, Usher was there.

Give him the congressional record.

You know, I just am like, that was the wrong choice.

Right.

There was another artist on that show.

They could have given it to Usher.

If they had given it to Usher, then this would not be an issue.
