Usher syndrome

It's a mile and a quarter swim from Alcatraz to the coast, which I'm assuming there is like people around so that they don't get attacked by sharks.

And Lauren, I know, was like her spotter because Rebecca has something called Usher Syndrome, which I've never heard of.

Usher Syndrome... is a genetic disorder that causes vision loss, hearing loss, and balance issues.

Rebecca, who's a psychotherapist and endurance athlete, was first diagnosed at 19 after the first signs of the disorder appeared when she was a child.

Usher syndrome progressively robs you of your vision and your hearing.

Like, we, we all, we all have things we're going on.

So yeah, so I was born, um, I was born with what's called Usher syndrome type 2A.

Um, it's, and it's actually combined deafness and blindness.

Um, however, so, like, for most of my life, I was just...

And we work very closely with the agencies here and the, and the great organizations like Retina UK.

Avant Guard is developing two gene therapy products, uh, for Usher syndrome type 1B and for Stargardt disease.

So for Avant Garde, we have two separate trials in, in clinic, as I mentioned earlier on.

Our first trial is in Usher syndrome type 1B.

That is fully recruited at 15 patients.
