I launched Cayomi Sleep in November twenty twenty-five, only eight months ago, while attending USC Marshall's full-time MBA program, and in just eight months, we've done six hundred thirty-five thousand dollars in revenue.

[upbeat music] My guest today is James G. Ellis, the former dean of the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.

He is an award-winning educator, entrepreneur, and former CEO of Porsche Design.

Drawing on decades of experience in business leadership and higher education, he joins us to discuss his new book, A Journey of Insights: Lessons on Leadership and Legacy, published by Lions Press, which is both a leadership guide and a personal reflection from a man who has spent a lifetime helping others discover their potential.

Is business school still worth it today, Jim?

Really?

And so I got, uh, I got on track to graduate undergrad in three years, which I did, and then I got into the Master Schools of, ma- the Marshall School of Business-

Yeah

... and I got my MBA while I was still under scholarship.

Jim's want, led a pretty interesting life with all the things that he's taken and done, and we're gonna get into it with him and all that good stuff.

He has served as the Dean of the Marshall School of Business at the University of SoCal from 2007 to 2019, overseeing the education and wellbeing of approximately 15, or I'm sorry, 5,700 undergraduate college students.

You can tell I didn't go to college.

I can't even pronounce 15.

Jim Ellis became a professor from 2007 to 2019, as well as the dean of the USC Marshall School of Business.

Prior to that, he had a 27-year career as a CEO and an entrepreneur.

Many of his former students are today's business leaders.
