The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is looking for a new chief information officer.

CISA posted the CIO opening to USA Jobs last week.

The agency is taking applications through September 23rd.

CISA's last permanent CIO, Bob Costello, stepped down to join the private sector earlier this year.

Look, I think they should try anything on their own, quite frankly.

What I mean by, you know, what we will do is we will do things that will be fully feature-rich and, you know, fully QA'd and vetted, obviously, before we put something in the USAJobs platform.

But, look, there's all kinds of things, and we do this inside of OPM, too.

There are all kinds of things that don't end up as full-fledged applications that people are using as productivity tools in their day-to-day.

While concerns about recruitment for Immigration and Customs Enforcement drew headlines and a volley of political and community reaction for job candidates sweating in collared shirts, pressed slacks, jackets, and ties on Tuesday, the Homeland Security event was about just one thing – getting a job offer from one of the many divisions within the vast federal agency.

Moinuel and Serena Mojunder drove more than six hours from Frederick, Maryland on Monday and spent the night at a hotel just to attend Tuesday's job expo to see if there were any openings in the information technology field since the career expo was advertised on usajobs.gov and promoted open positions around the country.

They learned there were many openings here in Buffalo as well as positions available in Boston, New York City, and Texas, but not in Maryland, which was a disappointment, they said.

The job fair, which ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, continues with the same hours Wednesday.

I'd just like your listeners to know that there are great opportunities for public service in the office of the Inspector General as agents with the Defense Criminal Investigative Service and as auditors and evaluators.

[laughs] Um, uh, you know, that's, that's a, a question, um, that Jenny Mattingly at Partnership for Public Service raised.

You know, she said, "We're seeing more and more jobs pop up on USA Jobs that say Schedule PC." You know, is that, is that in the purview of these hiring committees to, you know, change jobs to Schedule PC as they're going through the process? Um, you know, are Schedule PC folks vetted by them? You know, what does that look like? So, you know, that's, that's another thing that I'm gonna keep trying to figure out.

Well, these seem to be part of the hiring landscape for the near future at least.
