Upper Geyser Basin

No visit to Yellowstone would feel complete without seeing Old Faithful.

Located in the Upper Geyser Basin, Old Faithful is one of the most recognizable natural attractions in America.

What makes it extraordinary is its relatively predictable eruption pattern.

Visitors gather around the designated viewing areas, waiting for the moment when hot water and steam suddenly shoot high into the air.

I recommend allowing enough time to watch an eruption without feeling rushed.

And don't leave immediately afterward.

The surrounding upper geyser basin contains numerous other geysers and geothermal features, many accessible along boardwalks and established walking trails.

Each has its own appearance and behavior.
