Unrequited love.
Diamond FlowersGUEST
44:37
Unrequited love, there you go.
Diamond FlowersGUEST
44:39
And so the song is really, like, an affirming song and in a way it's kinda like a meditation to myself of, like, breathe and let it go, you know? And I kept repeating that towards, like, the very end of the song of, "Breathe and let it go."
ChrisHOST
44:55
Mm-hmm.
ChrisHOST
46:48
[clapping] Beautiful, beautiful.
ChrisHOST
46:49
Man, I, I'm sensing a lot of pain in that song 'cause I know that feeling.
ChrisHOST
46:53
Like, I think we all know that feeling of, like, unrequited love and having feelings for someone that didn't love us.
YiamoullakisHOST
22:25
Um, because for all the threats that Demetrius is giving her, his presence is-
ForsterHOST
22:30
Well, it's a metaphor, isn't it, that encapsulates the nature of unrequited love.
YiamoullakisHOST
22:33
Yeah.
ForsterHOST
22:33
That it's both heaven and hell to be close to a person that doesn't love you back.
Victoria RussellHOST
16:01
Mm-hmm.
Sheryl PaulHOST
16:01
It's for maybe a stage, maybe in the honeymoon stage, maybe for a day, maybe for a conversation where we have that experience of perfect understanding, but it's our unrequited love episode.
Sheryl PaulHOST
16:15
It's the failure of human expression and communication.
Sheryl PaulHOST
16:23
And there's something about solitude that I think maybe our culture in particular here in the United States runs away from.
Dan YowellHOST
32:01
Yeah.
Patrick BlanchfieldHOST
32:02
And then the guy who he does this to literally does it in front of him in this kind of like act of love, but, like, unrequited love that's very public, and calls for divine retribution.
Patrick BlanchfieldHOST
32:15
And then Narcissus, or Narcissus, has the...
Patrick BlanchfieldHOST
32:19
Like, he gets his sort of just desserts by being like, "Oh, I'm...

Patrick BlanchfieldHOST
63:07
What's the scene of dying?
Dan YowellHOST
63:09
She withers away in the woods, like turns to ash and bone, and then her bones turn to stone.
Patrick BlanchfieldHOST
63:15
She's, she also wastes away in yearning and solitary death of unrequited love.
Abby KluchinHOST
63:22
Yeah, and but she turns to stone, whereas his, you know, his substance is, is water.
Myah MarieHOST
47:36
Bottom feeder.
Myah MarieHOST
47:37
Or unrequited love.
Myah MarieHOST
47:43
So bug spray.
Myah MarieHOST
47:45
Bottom Feeder, Unrequited Love.
Myah MarieHOST
47:47
One of those three.
Myah MarieHOST
47:49
So I'll let you do your own research and guess and look at my Spotify profile for hints.
DeclanHOST

favorite in this book
DeclanHOST
8:27
i feel like his story is the one that i think has a bit more depth to it i think ryan's problem is pretty like typical of a romance book like it's not uncommon to see um you know a character trying to pine after someone and not being able to have them that unrequited love thing it's a story you see quite frequently but the idea of like a much older man entering a new point of his life is sort of like for him it's his retirement years and meeting this very young but incredibly well educated and cultured guy who challenges his perception of you know what he wants a relationship to look like and what it could look like And not to mention the fact that he's closeted during all of this as well.
DeclanHOST
9:18
So not only does Eric have to deal with the anxiety of, you know, coming out, but he would be coming out into a relationship that has a significant age gap of, what, close to 20 years? Like, that's not small.
DeclanHOST
9:33
That's significant.
DeclanHOST
14:00
And that kind of speaks true for me, for these two as well.
DeclanHOST
14:04
I agree with you on that, definitely.
KirstyGUEST
14:07
yeah they are I think the entire like vibes that I get from the book because obviously you've got the unrequited love between Kyle and Kyle with Kip as well I think the the entire sort of vibes of the book give that like give a romance that just is a little more a little more realistic like you said where it's like it's who they need now at this point in their life and that you don't always end up with the person that you think you're going to end up with um So it's kind of, it would be fitting if they don't, if they're no longer together in the future and in the future and Rachel's worlds, you know?
DeclanHOST
14:46
Yeah.
PhillyHOST
63:38
Yeah, you loved that bit, remember? I love all those things.
PhillyHOST
63:41
Yeah, I love Unrequited.
PhillyHOST
63:42
It's my favourite, apart from actual love, which is obviously ideal.
AllyHOST
63:47
So she came back.
Brent AllenHOST
23:32
And while I 100 percent agree with you, Jeff, and I I think that this is like I actually feel sorry for Ivanova for having a life that has led her to this conclusion that like you, I so vehemently disagree with.
Brent AllenHOST
23:49
When an individual has only ever experienced unrequited love to where they believe that that is the only type of love that actually truly exists, as I believe Ivanova does here, I feel very sad for her.
Brent AllenHOST
24:01
And if I was Stephen Franklin right now, what I would want to tell her is.
Brent AllenHOST
24:07
not all love is unrequited you know yeah especially if this is my friend i'd be like i requite your love yeah i love you yeah and you know i mean it's amazing

Okay.
Brent AllenHOST

Someone asked, why did linear tell Dylan what Ivanova had said? And he says, because linear is quite familiar with the concept.
Brent AllenHOST
36:53
He also feels basically love is unrequited also because hope burns eternal, which is probably the most damnable part of unrequited love.
Brent AllenHOST
37:03
I still hope you're going to love me, even though you don't just take the message, dude,
