United States Presidential Inauguration

Herbert Hoover held the last one in 1932.

Then there were Inauguration Day celebrations as well.

But the major example was when Andrew Jackson was inaugurated March 4th.

of 1829.

And once again, as in every major news event in recent history, more people by far followed the convention and election coverage on NBC than any other network.

Now Inauguration Day is almost at hand, January 20th, and NBC Radio and Television are ready to bring you the most complete and comprehensive coverage of this memorable day and night.

THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BACK DOWN BUT SOMETHING IS QUITE INTERESTING THAT'S HAPPENING.

President told us on Inauguration Day that the golden age of America was here and coming.

And he keeps on saying that.

Watch.

But the, the, the statute really does confer, I think, some pretty broad power to the president in a situation where there's a national emergency.

And we've got two kind of facets to look at with regard to that issue, right? The first being there's this national energy emergency that was declared on Inauguration Day quite a while back now, which has been used to kind of be the baseline for things like the Trump administration's DPA order, Defense Production Act order, you know, mandating production of oil off the coast of California, right? Courts have kind of said, "Hey, that's an okay kind of reason to in- to invoke the DPA in that context," even though we're talking about IE- IEPA here.

And really, I think when we point to Iran, we point to, to shortages, you know, in the Strait of Hormuz, costs coming up, I think, you know, really they probably have the foundation they need to, to invoke IEPA if they want to.

Um, broader question, though, is, you know, really, really how does this shape out with constituencies heading into the, the midterms? And I think from a, a standpoint of intrigue, there is a lot of debate going on right now within the White House on this issue.
