And so he went to university with Évier de Clercq.

So very interesting at Poitrastrum University, my dad was the United Party youth organizer and Évier de Clercq was the National Party youth organizer.

So they had a lifelong friendship, although politically they completely were separate.

And then there used to be a club, Fernwood, which was where in Cape Town, where all the members of parliament on a Sunday would play tennis or bowls or stuff like that.

And as a young guy going to Potsdam University, Northwest is called now, did you have a strong political awareness because of how you grew up? Oh, absolutely.

Yeah, no, I had a very strong political awareness.
