United Nations Ocean Decade

I currently work in Paris in the head offices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.

And this Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, IOC, is amongst others leading the UN Ocean Decade for Ocean Science.

My background, however, is not within IOC.

I'm from Fugro, a global geodata company, and I'm seconded here by Fugro to the decade as part of a partnership that we are having with IOC to facilitate interactions and opening up data that is held by private sector companies.

So how much longer will your secondment last, Peter, before you? I

will, so I'm here now two years.

Most likely I will be here till June next year, 2027, which is quite nice because in April next year we have the next UN Ocean Decade Conference, which will be in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

And obviously there's a lot of work going into preparing for that.
