Union busting is a firm and an agency.

It's a multi-million dollar agency.

Like, you have some of the best and smartest people who are trying to destroy labor unions all day long.

Outside money that is very interested in privatizing schools and also interested in an agenda to shut down schools.

Union busting.

It's union busting.

And we know where those schools will be shut down, right? You're not going to be asking people in Wicker Park or Lincoln Park, hey, are you going to take your school down? No, that's not going to happen.

It's going to happen on the south and west sides.

Remember, Amazon fired over 150 DSP drivers last year in New York City after they unionized.

The most insidious part of this delivery service partner subcontractor arrangement is how it allows Amazon to have this sort of workaround for union busting.

When these last mile delivery workers attempt to unionize, rather than recognize or deal with the union, Amazon can just cut off the entire subcontractor, putting all those workers out of jobs while Amazon can just switch to a new non-union subcontractor.

And this is apparently legal because these workers aren't directly employed by Amazon.

So in effect, it's illegal union busting without actually having to do illegal union busting.

So you can see why this model is so attractive to these corporations, because using these delivery subcontractors gives you this little loophole to avoid negotiating with a union.

And it's insane that they're able to get away with this.

Yeah, so if anyone wants to come out and canvas or come to a rally, uh, this is really the final push.

They spend so much money busting unions.

They probably have an in-house union busting department.

Oh, I have no doubt.

Right.

And when the Ontario union drive went public two years ago, of course, Walmart rushed to punish those workers and did its damnedest to bust their union drive.

But importantly, this time, those union busting efforts failed, so we can only assume that the Walton clan is hopping mad about the whole situation.

Again, love to see it.

And honestly, now that our Canadian counterparts have notched this major win, I'm really curious to see what kind of organizing efforts we might see here in the US.

More members means more dues money, and more money plus bigger membership means more power, politically and otherwise.

Sometimes, though, the math falls apart, and things seem to turn upside down.

In the case of Cesar Alarcon, it seems like he's purely in it for the love of the game, and that game, for him, is union busting.

As Khafagy uncovered, Alarcon has had a long career in, quote-unquote, "union avoidance," a sanitized term that consultants and their clients like to trot out to make their slimy actions seem a little less contemptible.

It's not enough to just say, bad luck, not my problem, and to scope.
