Undertow

Enema is probably their most iconic album.

Some people would say Lateralis is, some people would say 10,000 Days is, Fear Inoculum, Undertow, Opiate, and then they redid Opiate for Opiate Squared.

But for me...

You know, Enema is probably their most iconic record.

Yeah, he's usually their producer now.

But with Anima, they got a different kind of sound.

You know, they went from Undertow, which was very muddy.

I mean, you think of, I can't really play the album on this podcast.

This band is, I mean, I'm not the biggest fan.

The only two albums I own from them are Undertow and Opiate, but...

Uh, you know, which probably doesn't mean shit compared to everything they've done since, but still great band, the, you know, musicianship, the, what the fuck they're doing.

I don't even understand half of it.

like the greatest example I can think of or easy examples, eulogy, that intro, it's just every four bars, something gets added on sound wise until the song comes in.

Um, and I, for the reason I think this is their best album and, um, Maybe you guys feel differently, I think.

Because Undertow set such a high bar already for them from a debut album.

But that was a very riff-oriented rock forward album.

But that is my NFC.

You know, I got Undertow and Aenima back to back and just poured through all of it, every little crumb, every little morsel of information that I could kind of suck from Tool's teat, I would, uh, I would, I would swoosh around in my mouth like...

That's a really weird analogy, isn't it? But anyway, I lo- I, I just love them.

I love the kind of mysteriousness of it.
