Under the Red Sky

Peaked at number seven on the Billboard Albums chart, it had Cherry Pie and I Saw Red.

Also on that same day, 1990, Bob Dylan released Under the Red Sky.

It was produced by Don Woz, of Woz, not Woz fame.

And it had a whole bunch of celebrity guest cameos on it.

It's so good.

Um, but the next album he does, which is, uh, "Under the Red Sky," it says on the Wikipedia page that that album suffers because he's working on the Traveling Wilburys, which seems strange to me.

I'm not sure why that would follow.

Um, but after "Under the Red Sky," he doesn't write original material for seven years after that.

So it's like 1990 is this album and "Under the Red Sky," 1997 is "Time Out of Mind." In the meantime-

... it's all folk songs and covers, and it really seems like he's done.

Like, like you said earlier, the, the legal aspect of that comes much later than the creative music part, and a large part of that is because of, you know, divvying up that wealth.

The 80s, which were very produced and very, you know, had a lot of sound design.

And even the album that preceded Good Has That Been To You, Under the Red Sky, which was produced by a star producer with tons of guest stars like Elton John.

It really felt like Under the Red Sky was overcooked in some way.

Well, Under the Red Sky is an interesting record to think about because I think some of the songwriting in that record is actually like very based in traditional music.

You have these sort of nursery rhyme themes and it's almost like he's sort of thinking about this already.

Something like that.

It's like "Oh Mercy," "Under the Red Sky," "Good as I Been to You." Yeah.

Well, this is right before "Oh Mercy," right? 'Cause that's '89.
