As you were talking, I didn't even realize, but you were mentioning other UTMB races.

To me, UTMB is the Ultra Trail to Mont Blanc.

But

there are other races out there.

Many have told me afterwards that you don't have to run to hallucinate, it's easier too.

So I can already, okay, a 400 kilometer run, where I then regularly rest, has different racing strategies than an ultra trail in the mountains, where I say, okay, I'll start now and in 25, 30 hours, whatever, I'm at the finish line and I just go through it for one or two nights.

But I'm completely with you that the desert and this vastness and this emptiness, and maybe we all or many of us dare to say, just to experience it, out of a over-civilized, too loud, too full world, purely in an area where there is nothing but yourself.

And the longer and the more difficult and even better, very generally and formulated now, are also so in demand, because it simply offers a protected space.

I can now take the Ultra Gobi, which is absolutely fascinating, or I can take an Ultra Trail in the Alps, where I say I run around the Mont Blanc or I run around the Gros Glockner or the Ortler.
